Jenna Z. Marcus, MDDr. Jenna Marcus is an Assistant Professor of Gynecologic Oncology at Northwestern Medicine. She is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology. Dr. Marcus believes in a patient centered approach and prioritizes compassionate and comprehensive care for her patients. She specializes in both the surgical management and chemotherapeutic treatment of gynecologic malignancies including cancers of the ovary, uterus, cervix, vulva, vagina, and those with gestational trophoblastic disease. She also treats patients with an increased genetic predisposition to cancer, precancerous conditions and conditions requiring complex pelvic surgery. She is an expert in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, providing patients a quicker recovery time with smaller incisions, as well as extensive surgical cytoreductive procedures and intraoperative chemotherapy for advanced ovarian cancer.
Dr. Marcus is a leader in the field and serves on the boards of several national committees including, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, American Cancer Society and American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. She is also the co-chair of several national committees focused on cervical cancer screening, detection and management of premalignant conditions. Dedicated to research, she has been the principal investigator on multiple trials in both the treatment and prevention of gynecologic malignancies. Dr. Marcus is on the editorial board of the Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease and has co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles. She is a recognized leader in education and has completed a fellowship in higher academic leadership at the Rutgers Leadership Academy. Throughout her training, Dr. Marcus has received numerous awards and accolades for her teaching of students and trainees as well as for her clinical service. She continues to be recognized for her dedication to the academic mission and training of residents and was awarded the institutional APGO Excellence in Teaching Award in 2021. Dr. Marcus received her medical degree from Wayne State University prior to completing her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Medical Center in New York. She completed fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, where she completed extensive training in robotic and minimally invasive surgical procedures. She was Assistant Professor and Chief of Clinical Research for Gynecologic Oncology at Rutgers University prior to joining the faculty at Northwestern. |
