Become a Woman to Woman Mentor!

Mandatory qualifications to become a volunteer with Northwestern Medicine

You must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer for Northwestern Medicine. In addition, volunteers must:

• Be a current or former Northwestern Medicine gynecologic oncology patient
• Pass a criminal background check if you are age 18 or older
• Attend virtual hospital orientation for new volunteers
• Complete on-the-job training for assigned volunteer service (we will refer to this as "Woman to Woman Specific Training")
• Read and comply with Northwestern Medicine policies, such as code of conduct, privacy laws and dress code

You may need to:

• Provide immunization records or undergo immunization screenings for:
  • Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)
  • Fulfill current COVID-19 vaccine requirement and provide supporting documentation
  • Chickenpox (varicella)
  • Tetanus (Tdap)
  • Others as needed
• Undergo a TB test
• Receive a flu shot if volunteering during flu season

​We request applicants be at least 6 months post-treatment, though we will consider other situations on a case-by-case basis.

If you are accepted as a Woman to Woman mentor, you will be required to complete ​an additional application for NM Volunteer Services.

If you are not a Northwestern Medicine patient, you can still apply to become a mentor with the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance's Woman to Woman National Mentoring Program (for all gynecologic cancers).
