Mary Callaghan, APRN-CNS, AOCNSMary Callaghan is an Advanced Practice Nurse on the inpatient Gynecologic Oncology Service. She has worked in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Northwestern Medicine since 2013.
Mary participates in the care of inpatient gynecologic oncology patients in the Maggie Daley Center for Women’s Cancer Care within Prentice Women’s Hospital. This care includes:
Providing compassionate and knowledgeable care for cancer patients has been an important life’s work for Mary. Being patient and family centered with positive collaboration with other specialties to improve care for cancer patients is at the forefront of her care. Educating patients, families, colleagues and being faithful to the needs of patients is an important tenet to her approach. Mary graduated from Loyola University with a Bachelor Degree of Nursing and from UCLA Graduate School of Nursing with a Master Degree with a Cancer Specialty. Mary has over 35 years of experience in Cancer Nursing as an Advance Practice Nurse-Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oncology. She has worked as an APRN in Stem Cell Transplant and Hematology/Oncology before specializing in Gynecology Oncology and has held leadership positions as Manager and Director. She has been invited to speak on a variety of cancer topics nationally, authored chapters and journal articles and conducted research. Currently she is a member of the NM Advance Practice Provider Leadership Committee, the NM Cancer Center Quality Care committee and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Medication Safety Committee. Mary is active in the Society of Gynecologic Oncology as a speaker, member of the Clinical Practice Committee and member of the Palliative Care Task Force. Her most proud achievement has been to be awarded the Oncology Passionate Care Award from the NM Cancer Center. |
